ISO/IEC 42001 certification for its Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS)
Ministry of Finance successfully achieved ISO/IEC 42001 certification for its Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS), marking a significant milestone in strengthening the Ministry’s governance and responsible adoption of Artificial Intelligence.
The achievement followed a comprehensive implementation program aimed at establishing an internationally aligned framework for governing, managing, monitoring, and continuously improving the Ministry’s use of AI. The initiative covered the establishment of the governance structure, AI policies and responsibilities, AI risk and impact management, lifecycle controls, documentation and operational procedures, awareness and training, internal assurance, management review, and certification readiness.
The certification audit was successfully completed with no non-conformities identified. The auditors raised only Opportunities for Improvement (OFIs), which will be incorporated into the Ministry’s continual improvement activities to further enhance the maturity and effectiveness of the AIMS.
Strategic Impact
This achievement provides MoF with an institutional framework for responsible, controlled, and scalable adoption of AI. It strengthens governance and accountability around AI initiatives, provides a structured mechanism for identifying and managing AI related risks, and embeds oversight and continual improvement into the AI lifecycle.
It also supports the Ministry’s broader digital transformation and innovation agenda, ensuring that the expansion of AI capabilities is accompanied by appropriate governance, risk management, transparency, security, and responsible-use practices.
