​The UAE participated in the second Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI) group meeting within the G20 Finance Track for 2022, which was held virtually and in person. The meeting, which was held under the Indonesian Presidency of the G20, sought to discuss the group priorities for the 2022 annual plan and the progress made in implementing the plan.Mariam Alhajri, General Budget Department Deputy Director at the Ministry of Finance and Faiza Alawazi, Head of Consumer Protection Department at the Central Bank of the UAE, participated in the meeting, along with G20 members, invited countries, GPFI country members, representatives from international organisations and SFWG’s affiliated partners.The members discussed ways to find solutions to advance the access of MSMEs to the finance, in addition to the implementation of the G20 Digital Financial Inclusion framework that aims at enhancing the access of youth, women and MSME’s to digital financial services. The team also reviewed the amendments made on the G20 and OECD High-Level principles for Economic Cooperation and Development on consumer protection.The UAE team praised the efforts made to provide easy access to digital financial services aimed at increasing the level of financial inclusion globally and reviewed cases of digital financial inclusion services provided by the country to MSME’s. Furthermore, with regard to digital stablecoins, members reiterated the importance of raising awareness and financial education on those services, in addition to consumer protection.At the end of the meeting, the members and international organisations participating in the meeting agreed to deliberate the progress made on the working group deliverables during the group’s next meeting in October 2022.​
