Maktoum bin Mohammed discusses financial and economic cooperation with Turkey

His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance, today met with Turkish Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek during the World Government Summit 2025, taking place in Dubai from February 11 to 13. The meeting was also attended by Minister of State for Financial Affairs Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini.

The two Ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties between the UAE and Turkey, particularly in the financial sector, as well as how to support mutual interests and drive sustainable economic growth. Talks also covered bilateral trade, investment, and potential opportunities to deepen economic cooperation.

Sheikh Maktoum emphasized that the UAE and Turkey share historical and deeply rooted bilateral relations, highlighting the importance of collaboration across various sectors.

“We have strong and solid relations with Turkey, and through this meeting, we seek to enhance financial and commercial cooperation between our two countries. This will contribute to realizing our shared aspirations for growth and prosperity,” Sheikh Maktoum said. “We firmly believe in the importance of building bridges of cooperation to not only strengthen our economic capabilities but also open new opportunities for sustainable development.”

For his part, Şimşek reiterated the importance of enhancing economic relations between the UAE and Turkey, reaffirming his country’s commitment to strengthening these ties in a way that serves the interests of both nations and supports their shared aspirations for a more prosperous future.
