In line with its strenuous efforts to boost the efficiency and effectiveness of government procurement processes, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) recently held a workshop on the Digital Procurement Policy of the federal government to brief relevant entities on the latest developments related to the government procurement policy. Government procurement employees from 27 government entities attended the meeting. The workshop agenda included an introduction to the Digital Procurement Policy and its objectives, a presentation on the principles of preparing the Digital Procurement Policy, as well as a discussion on the latest changes and areas of improvement based on changes in business needs and in line with best international practices.The changes and new areas of improvement included the need to support digital transformation and digital procurement, motivating suppliers and increasing their satisfaction levels by facilitating registration and contracting procedures and providing privileges to them. That, in addition to adding online bidding on the digital platform to facilitate competition between suppliers to obtain the best prices.Areas of improvement also included adding sufficient incentives to support SMEs to participate in submitting quotations, as well as adding In-Country Value requirements (ICV Scores), which is an additional competitive advantage for suppliers who contribute significantly to supporting the country’s economic development.
