Social Media Usage Policy

1. Policy Objectives

  • Regulate the management and use of social media platforms to ensure positive engagement between the Ministry of Finance and the public, and to uphold professional ethics and standards.
  • Define the principles and guidelines to be followed when publishing content on social media platforms to ensure the provision of accurate and high-quality information.
  • Promote transparency and credibility in the Ministry’s communication with the public through social media.
  • Ensure privacy and compliance with the Ministry of Finance’s information security policies.
 

2. Scope of the Policy

This policy applies to all official social media platforms of the Ministry, including all content published through them. It also includes live chat services on the Ministry’s official website.

3. Moderation Policy

The Ministry of Finance welcomes all opinions and suggestions that contribute to the development and enhancement of services, policies, and decisions to better meet public needs. However, the Ministry reserves the full right to prevent the appearance of any content that may:

  • Pose a threat to security.
  • Contain inappropriate language.
  • Violate others’ privacy or be offensive.
  • Contravene local laws.
  • Be inappropriate, obscene, or defamatory.
  • Include spam or promote commercial products or services.
  • Be interpreted as biased or harmful to any segment of society based on race, color, nationality, religion, status, etc.
  • Contain group or political discussions.
  • Infringe upon intellectual property rights.
  • Violate freedom of opinion and expression.
  • Fall outside the Ministry’s scope of work.

Failure to comply with this policy may result in the user being blocked.

4. Response and Evaluation Mechanism

The Ministry is committed to responding to relevant public inquiries and comments via its social media platforms as promptly as possible, through the following measures:

  • If the inquiry is personal (private), a direct message will be sent in response.
  • If the inquiry is of interest to a large segment of followers, a public response will be provided for general benefit.
  • If the answer is available on the Ministry’s official website, the user will be referred to it through a direct link to the FAQ page.

Additionally, interactions and data will be analyzed to prepare periodic reports on the performance of social media platforms.

5. Review and Audit

All published content is subject to periodic review by a specialized team to ensure compliance with the provisions of this policy. Any post found to be in violation of the policy will be removed, and the violator may be held legally accountable in accordance with applicable laws and regulations in the United Arab Emirates.
